Book Reviews

Is there anything more relaxing than curling up with a good book? Book reviews are a good way find a good book to read, and lately I've been reading some good ones. I really enjoy history, especially about the American West. But that's not all I read. Recently I read a book that the comedian George Carlin was writing before he died. And you know what they say, "A good story is a good story, no matter what the setting." I don't know if anybody actually said that, but it's true. As a child I can remember staying up late when I was into a good book. Then I would wake up early before school and read some more. When I was in grade school we would order books through the school. I quickly read mine, and then I would steal my sister's and read them before she had a chance. One time in class in fifth or sixth grade, I was secretly reading a book, with a horse theme of course, while the teacher was talking. She busted me and made me stand up and give a book review. I'm sure I was embarrassed, but at least I got to talk about a subject I was interested in. I've always been a really good reader. In third grade I went to the fourth grade class for reading. As I find time I am writing reviews and adding them. I won't bother with books that I don't care for since I probably won't finish them anyway. Who needs the torture? I also don't care for ereaders. They're becoming very popular and they're convenient, and I've looked at a few of them. But it's not the same to me. Plus I think my body can use a break from all the radiation that comes off of electronics. At night I prefer to shut the computer and other radiating gadgets down and read the old-fashioned way. Of course that could be because I'm better at turning pages manually than I am at clicking on a screen since I've been doing it longer. Click on book covers on the right to read reviews.
