Book Reviews of A Story of the West, What People Are Saying
When I wrote A Story of the West, I, of course, had no idea how it would be received. In fact I was terrified that no one would like it. Just after it came out, I started peddling copies to stores in the area where I live. In a nearby town there's a really neat store, I guess kind of a high end western boutique and gift shop. I decided to give it a shot. After I met the owner, she told me she would have to read the book first, and then decide if she wanted to carry it. I left her a copy and went on my way. A couple weeks later I finally confronted my fear and went back to the store to see what the owner had to say. After being asked, her reply was, "I loved it. It should be made into a movie." What a great book review. Needless to say, that comment made my day. Since then I've collected a lot more stories just as encouraging. More than one person has told me that, although they don't normally read novels, they stayed up late to finish my book. How cool is it to be able to say that I contributed to people reading more. I had no idea how great the book reviews would be. Read the book reviews below to find out what people are saying about A Story of the West. You may become as excited about it as I am. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I want my friends that enjoy reading fictional novels about Montana Territory and the intensity of the life in Montana in the late 1800's to take the time for a great story of ranching, outlaws and Romance. Susan Spence, from her ranch here has created a very well written story, researched to reflect the life at the time accurately. She is able to let you feel the harshness and beauty of Montana at a much different time. I don't often get the chance to read a memorable book let alone be good friends with the author. Thank you Susan for letting me have your very first copy. I can't wait for you to perhaps have a sequel to this. I know there's much more you have for us!! Check out Susan Spence on facebook and you can see how to get a copy of this book. Jim B., MT ----------------------------------------------------------------- This was an awesome read, and I can't wait till the sequel comes out. Please save a copy for me. I loved this story, you did an amazing job writing it. Thank you for a very interesting love story. I'm sorry I finished it. Alice H., MT ----------------------------------------------------------------- I am an avid reader and truly love a western. A huge fan of Louis L'Amour, I enjoy details that educate, define and describe, without bogging down the story. That is exactly what this book gives the reader. A very well written, readable and enjoyable book. The story line was easy to follow, believable, entrancing and very enjoyable. I got lost in the story and didn't want to put it down. True to life emotions and concerns prevailed and this was a true page turner!More, please! Dave S., AZ ----------------------------------------------------------------- Matt`s Story. I enjoyed every bit of it. An honest portrayal of life, Susan seems to have a good handle on Western History. I found the book informative, and full of honest emotions. The descriptions of people, towns and life in general, made me a part of the whole story. I was compelled to finish the book at one sitting! That's how good I thought it was. I am not a book reviewer, nor have I ever offered an opinion of one, but this was a real pleasure to read and offer a comment on. Well done Susan, a damn good read, of a story well told. If you`ve got the time and the notion give this book a go!Finally, I loved the Epilogue. It has a very poignant moment or two, especially when Matt is old, and coming to the end of his time. His realization that his time will never come again, an era lost to the pages of history. I really loved the saddle piece, that was inspiration.I would seriously recommend this book to those who love adventure and history.Cheyenne, Scotland ----------------------------------------------------------------- There's also a book review from a blog that you can check out here. (This one made me cry.)
